SIXTH ANNUAL ARLINGTON ARTS COUNCIL FALL INTO ART AUCTION
October 17th at the Medallion Hotel

Doors open at 5:30pm.
Free Early Bird Raffle drawing at 6pm
Silent auction tables close at 6:30 and 7pm
Dinner is served at 7pm. Live auction starts at 7:30pm with auctioneer April Brown and Mark Brown, master of ceremonies.
Live music by Brighter Days Jazz Trio (Jeff Swanson, Jim Bassett and Ron Thordarson)
Tickets are $30 including a Pacific Rim buffet. Tickets are being sold at Flowers by George, Brushstrokes Art Supply and by phone: Call Jean Olson at 360/435-5866.
The success of the auction is due greatly to the generosity of arts council members who give so willingly of their time and talent and the attendees and art lovers who avidly bid for their favorite pieces.
Every year attendees have the opportunity to vote on their favorite proposal for new public art. Proceeds from the auction go toward acquiring new art for public places in Arlington which is the Arlington Arts Council's mission.
A popular feature of the auction is the centerpiece art. This year the theme of the auction is Pacific Northwest Living and each of the 17 tables will reflect different facets of living in the northest. A few of the categories are: Coast Salish, Totems, Pike Place Market, Rain, Trees, Salmon and Tribal.

AAC JOINS IN THE 4TH OF JULY FESTIVITIES IN ARLINGTON
The Grand Parade along Olympic Avenue included the Arlington Arts Council float "A FEMININE POSE."
The best way for artists to train themselves in "seeing" is to paint from life. Artists of previous centuries, Sargent, Degas, Manet, Renoir and many more painted from live models in their studios or on location in the homes of their models.
Contemporary artists of the 21st Century approach painting from life with models in much the same way although the delivery and medium may differ. Painting from life is still the best way to explore "the feminine mystique."

The barn collapsed in December due to the excessive snow load, however, the council and artists have agreed the show must go on.
We have developed a good reputation over the past four years and would not like to dissapoint the following we have. Every year this show has grown in popularity due in equal part to the fine art, artists and fun atmosphere.
Without the hay barn artists will set up tents sprinkled throughout the orchard and gardens on the Yantis property. There will be several spots for patrons to have a snack and relax on one of several swinging benches under shady trees or just watch artists as they demonstrate their techniques.

By popular demand an hour of the program will be dedicated to a critique performed by Ron of artwork brought by workshop attendees. Don't be shy - it's an amazing learning experience!

Second Annual Eagle Festival a Great Success
For three days the Arlington Arts Council sponsored an art show and two contests in conjunction with the Eagle Festival sponsored by Arlington City Hall and the Stillaguamish Tribe.
February 5, 6 and 7th doors opened at 10am at 233 North Olympic Avenue in Arlington and visitors were treated to coffee and snacks while perusing the artwork by 14 local artists. Visitors were asked to vote on their favorite works in two categories: People's Choice Award for best eagle photograph and People's Choice Award for best wildlife painting. The winners both received checks from the Arlington Arts Council in the amount of $100.
Rocky Barrick's painting camouflage was one of the entries in the wildlife contest.
Activities on Saturday featured: Bridget Clawson demonstrating the art of Artist Trading Cards and Helen Saunders making monoprints from a real rockfish.

2008 Arlington Arts Council Auction a Huge Success
The room was packed, laughter and conversations mingled as guests enjoyed beverages while bidding on the many exciting silent auction items at the 2008 Arlington Arts Council Fall Into Art Auction held Saturday October 18th.
Once again, due to the hard work and generosity of members and donors there was a large array of wonderful silent auction items and table centerpiece art. Bidding was carefree for the first hour then became more serious and stealthy as the clock ticked foward to the first close of bidding.
During the live auction one could hear sighs of disappointment among the cheers of success when winning bid numbers were called. Happily there were many opportunities to be a winner during the 2008 Arlington Arts Council Fall Into Art Auction.
